The uncapped mark is shown on your transcript. Tip: See what level your module is in Sussex Direct by choosing your timetable and selecting the relevant module code. The level is listed under the FHEQ row. A sit is a type of resit that gives you another opportunity to complete a module assessment. Your mark from a sit attempt is not capped and may be combined with marks you achieved for other assessments from the module.
You might be offered a sit if we accepted an exceptional circumstances claim. You must decide by the deadline shown on your Module Results page in Sussex Direct. Select the "accept" or "decline" option.
You can change your decision as many times as you like before the deadline. If you fail your resit, we might allow you to progress into your next stage of study with a trailed resit — this means you have to take the resit to get the credits for the module but you can do it later on.
A repeat year means you do the teaching, learning and assessments again to get the credits you need to progress on your course or earn a degree. If a repeat stage is not offered by the summer exam board, this may be offered by the resit exam board in September.
This means that you'll normally graduate later than the rest of your cohort, depending on the resit schedule for the module. Resitting or retaking Resit results If you haven't passed If you've failed your award Graduation. If you have a resit, this is shown in your academic record using a code. For example: 1RA — This is your first attempt at the module and you need to resit component A 1RB — This is your first attempt at the module and you need to resit component B 1RALL — This is your first attempt at the module and you need to resit all components.
No mark capping if you need to resit or retake Module marks are no longer capped at the pass mark if you need a resit or a retake and have not been previously capped.
Retake costs The University does not charge students to take a resit. These include: teaching, supervision, assessment and feedback use of university facilities eg the Library, computer rooms, laboratories, software provision of module materials administrative services eg registration and examinations. Resit results You should receive the outcome of your resits by the official results publication dates. If you haven't passed all your resits If you receive the decision "Refer", it could have an impact on your programme of study. If you've failed your award If you receive the decision of "Failed Award", you won't be able to continue on your award.
Graduation If you require a resit or a retake, you won't be able to graduate until the Award Ceremony which follows the completion of your award. The university decides when this reassessment will take place, and which methods of reassessment will be used. If this was because of an illness or unexpected event at the time of your assessment, you can apply for Exceptional Circumstances. If your Exceptional Circumstances claim is successful you are permitted a further initial or reassessment opportunity, whichever is relevant.
Details of this. The Departmental Assessment Panel decides the type and timing of re-assessment. This will usually be a resit of the failed element s but an alternative method will be provided if needed. You can be required to retake the entire module with attendance with teaching. You can also request to attend classes before resitting or resubmitting elements from a failed module. The Faculty Awards Board determines the earliest appropriate re-assessment point.
