I have heard the car applies brakes and some form of LSD vectoring in the first two modes, is this the case? A long press turns off the ABS too. Edited see Daves post below Traction control and Stability Control are one in the same systems. When cornering or braking hard the system senses a breakaway situation and applies the brake of the relevant wheel or wheels to effect direction control and simultaneously the power may also be reduced.

Re: DSC modes Post by untakenname » Mon Jun 01, am When we had the group dyno session I'm pretty sure that the DSC was kicking in on my run even though it was meant to have been disabled as it only put down hp which if it were a true output would be very noticeable on the road.
One press of the DSC seems to allow for more slip angle before kicking in but it's still definitely enabled. Had it short pressed and along the last corner of Brands Hatch before the straight the system was still kicking in massively so had to hold it down fully to stop it interfering, found the laptime difference with it disabled was a couple of seconds quicker per lap back last December on the indy track.

Imagine if the button some how got pressed mid corner on a normal road and you wanted those functions active. Club Treasurer "What do you mean bitcoins not a solid investment for the club..?! See here: viewtopic. I'm pretty sure I've done that when on a long straight on a trackday when I forgot to turn it off before going on circuit.
I should add, I only tend to turn it completely off when it's interfering too much and the track is dry!
My best lap times are with DSC enable and the light just giving the occasional blink but not getting intrusive. It's still possible to steer with the throttle with DSC enabled.
I have seen an 8 on track with the rear discs glowing, which we assumed was a sticking handbrake, but later discovered it was the lead-footed driver trying to overcome the traction control.

Holding the button in until the system thinks there is a fault means it's all off. I tend to only mess with mine on track. I don't think TVR use such devices! CraigAlsop 1, posts months. I found the Mazda DSC on the RX8 that I tested to be way too "in your face" for my liking, and constantly interfering - so much so that I couldn't get a good feel for the handling. At the time I couldn't easily work out how to switch it off - should I get another chance, I would give it a go without, as I now know where the off button lives Gazboy said: the resident PH RX8 owners could tell you more.
I already have! As for it being in your face, I dont find it that way. So I switch it off for those In the wet you can provoke it easily enough. But again if you want you can switch it off.
In good conditions you probably dont need it and it probably wont interfere. In poorer conditions it can make a difference beyond driving ability.
And you can switch it off. Did I make that clear? The car handles great with it off. Only pain if you hate it is that its on by default every engine start.
If you've been on the prodrive day and seen what it can do and what you can do you'd be convinced about it, at least unless you want it off somewhere specific for fun. Thanks Gaz and Rob, I drove a Celica with some gizmo on it last year.
However I feel that these devices give a false impression. What is needed is lessons to drive the cars with gizmos switched off. I tried an RX8 at Brunters, it was flashing at me on the warm up lap! I think its fairly biassed towards those with no idea. RX8's have extremely competent chasis's so I would'nt worry about it too much, plus it's not a torquey engine so it does'nt want to lose the back end like a TVR might.
I would'nt bother with it it does'nt need it. Mr2Mike 20, posts months. Gazboy said: My MRT has no gizmos! Just LSD.
