My neck position Dry Z sounds small and even more trebly comparing to the bridge pu.
It also has a bit of hum so my guess is that one of the coil is disconnected, But when I measured the resistivity, it was the same with the bridge PU so obviously the two coils are connected. Anyone has any idea what is going on? And if I want to send the pu for repair, any recommendation? John Eppstein. My Studio. Very likely the polarity of one coil is reversed, giving what is commonly referred to as "out of phase" sound.
Following on from John's advice, it's a frustrating fact that there's no convention for colour coding pickup wires - more details about your specific pickup will give us a better a chance of spotting the problem. That said, it does sound like you've got some phase issues going on Assuming it's a generic humbucker with 4 coloured wires and a braided screen, and that you have access to a soldering iron and multimeter and experience of using them , there are a couple of simple tests you can use to find out what's going on.
Firstly having noted how things are currently wired unsolder all the connections. Set your meter to ohms and measure the resistance of the two coils. I tried it on some humbucker and to my ears it sounded as if your strat selector was in a quack position. Now the new Tonerider Birmingham is supposed to excel in the split mode singlecoil mode , may be worth checking out.
And also you have the H90s, the P90 in hum format. Rusty Strings , Aug 3, Giovanni likes this. I've thought about this too. Fender called it Atomic, but its really a moderate kind of level, like a sd59 or Pearly Gates.. If split to the coil furthest from the bridge, its tone fits right in with the other singles. Its uncovered, I think that's a good policy for a split version. Another trick, for a split tone with weight, instead of fully bypassing one coil, byoass it with a 0.

Solid State , Aug 5, I guess I would opt for Seymour Phat cats, I don't think split coils sound like single coils, but my Dirty Fingers come close.
Your modded Gibson still has a thicker tone than a traditional Tele would Still your idea is practical for someone who can't buy a genuine Tele and is willing to sacrifice their humbucker's meatiness to achieve an approximation of a Tele tone Messages: 2, I think some Gibson LP's have this split?
The LP traditional pro plus comes to mind Messages: 1. I think I try on Tele HH. I'm gonna change pickups on my Dot anyway, might as well try this out beforehand and see how she sounds. And to amend on the original title: It can't work for every HB.
